As I've previously said in this forum, I am in the market for a low cost HD/HDV camera and want the best quality I can get for the price. I thought I had pretty much decided on the Canon HV30. However, by the time I purchase a decent mic for it, focus ring, and lens hood the price ends up being a lot coser to the Sony HD1000U.

I know the Sony camera still ends up being more expensive, but the difference in cost is not enough to affect my decision. So ignoring the price, which camera do you think I should get?

I like the lens ring on the Sony, and that its size makes it look more like a pro camera. Both camera's record 1080i HDV to tape using a 1/3" sensor and neither has XLR inputs. The sony does have LANC control though.

So.... what do you think?

Hi Adam,

If you are willing to spend the price of the HVR-1000 you should rather spend 2000$ for an FX7... IMO.
