Shot my first engagement video since acquiring the 5D2.. made a huge newbie mistake..

My Picture Style was set to one of the settings with bumped up saturation, contrast and sharpening.. Didn't realize until half day into it so for half of the day's footage, my footage has an overly contrasty look with a nasty halo around edges... :(

Do pay attention to the picture mode you have on before you start filming!

If you can budget for high capacity memory cards, the day can be saved by shooting raw. Then it doesn't matter what profile you used, you can change it to any profile you want, in post.

Tom: are you saying you can shoot video in a raw format ?

Tom: are you saying you can shoot video in a raw format ?Clearly, you can't.

I think Tom was confusing the 5D MkII with a still photo camera. ;)

Yes, as Jon said I was confusing still photos. I apologize for not paying attention.

Thanks for the reminder. If you didn't actually blow any highlights, you should be able to easily fix the video in pp.

But that won't fix the halo effect! :(
