the new Turbo.264 HD USB stick can now do 1080p, not with the old .264 and it is much faster with my macbook pro 2.4g+4GB RAM
i take stock 1080/30p footage shot indoors at 1/60 sec and +6db gain (for faces) and +3db gain. no image stabilization.
the following 8:47 720p clip took about 40 minutes to render in Final Cut pro 6 with the elgato turbo.264 HD Encoder/Accelerator USB card (also with AVCHD so your other consumer cams works as well...)
my macbook pro is 2 years old, so the new 2.93g macbook pro with 4 or 8gb ram will look at sub 20 minutes times.
the .MOV file was at about 6000 bit rate.
the software from elgato was a lot more stable than the last stick.
great.
here is that 8:47 piece in 720p
YouTube - PS196 Senior Chorus Spring Concert 2009 Part 8 William Chiu plays Chopin Nocturne Op 9 No 2 LIVE in 720p HD (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_XcKClUEKTk&fmt=22)
file size only 320mb. easy to upload to youtube.hd
