Stelios Battle Vaughan April 28th, 2009, 02:20 PM We have had good success with the Audio-Technica ATR35s, which we issue with Edirol R09 recorders to reporters...it is remarkably inexpensive but does a good job. One thing to watch is getting the battery in the right way round, it's a button battery and if you get it in backwards, the mike works, but badly. I have finally bought the Audio-Technica ATR35s. I haven't actually tested it on a job as such but with the tests I did at home it works perfect. Thanks again. Stelios Tsu Terao May 1st, 2009, 04:25 PM Too late to help the OP - I have both the Squid and the ATR35s, and my opinion is: Squid - richer sound quality; higher volume output; rugged construction - costs more ($25+$6 for Neutrik plug); short 5' cord; needs plug-in power - minijack is stereo, goes to both channels ATR35s - self powered w/ LR44 batteries; long 20' cord; cheap ($19) - cord feels flimsy; lower volume output - jack is mono My usage: - Squid is used w/ sony PCM-D50 (which provides power) - Two ATR35s (w/ adapter) into Canon HV30, for interviews Marco Dias May 4th, 2009, 01:40 PM This one is a good value for the money (I use it with my Olympus WS-310): Omnidirectional Mono Microphone (http://www.giant-squid-audio-lab.com/gs/gs-mono.html) Can I connect this mic directly to my FX1?
