View Full Version : A Surprise Wedding Proposal!!!
Richard Wakefield April 27th, 2009, 10:37 AM Hi all,
I thought you might all like to see something really different I filmed last week.
Indecent Proposal: Magician?s stunning magic does the trick. on Vimeo (http://www.vimeo.com/4354503)
(from the blog: Blog Archive Surprise Wedding Proposal - the Outcome! (http://www.fxfilms.co.uk/blog/surprise-wedding-proposal-the-outcome.htm))
I'm not really posting it to obtain technical feedback as I know the filming is all over the place, and that there isn't any creative editing/colouring :)
But it's a bit of fun, and actually quite emotional at the end it has to be said!

Also, 2 other recent clips to share, as i haven't posted any here in ages!:
- Joanne and Peter - Cinematic Wedding Trailer on Vimeo (http://www.vimeo.com/4211475) (cinematic wedding trailer - not what we normally do, but thought i'd give it a go)
- BMW Z4 Showcase Film on Vimeo (http://www.vimeo.com/3427264) (we filmed this with my assistant's car, on the way to a wedding)
cheers
Richard
Warren Kawamoto April 27th, 2009, 11:11 AM Haha! That was great! I once shot a surprise proposal too, and also a surprise wedding where the groom didn't know he was getting married! They played my footage on the news. Stuff like this is why video is priceless.
Richard Wakefield April 27th, 2009, 11:16 AM hey Warren, definitely get the clip on here if you still have it...i'd really love to see another one now!
funny you should say about the news playing it....Simon (the magician) wants to take that approach too....fingers crossed!
D.J. Ammons April 27th, 2009, 11:36 AM Wonderful! This made my day. I needed something to break the strain of a crazy Monday at work.
Dawn Brennan April 27th, 2009, 12:29 PM Aw, that was awesome! Thanks for sharing!!

Louis Maddalena April 27th, 2009, 09:02 PM I thought the proposal video was awesome! I just wish that camera hidden a bit :(
Bryan Daugherty April 27th, 2009, 09:34 PM Brilliant, mate, absolutely brilliant. I think that is one of the best proposal stories I have ever heard.
Matt Barwick April 27th, 2009, 09:47 PM Beautiful stuff Richard. What a fantastic proposal - Her reactions were perfect!
Cheers,
Matt.
Richard Wakefield April 28th, 2009, 04:20 AM thanks for the comments! i agree, the reactions really were fantastic...it would have been awful if we had turned up and she looked poker faced throughout!
and yes, if only i could clone out myself and the 2nd camera, that would be ideal :)
Jason Robinson April 30th, 2009, 08:17 PM Oh man! That was fantastic! I haven't seen a better proposal video since my own (naturally I'm biased).
Brilliant idea. I've been trying to pitch the whole "surprise engagement video" idea to grooms, but it is dang hard to get noticed before the proposal has already happened.
Back to your video. The magician did a fantastic job setting things up (and does some great slight of hand too!) and her responses are pure gold!
And yes, I teared up a bit. Darn allergies.
Buba Kastorski April 30th, 2009, 08:36 PM fan-freakin-tastic!
thanks for sharing!
Travis Cossel May 1st, 2009, 01:46 AM I left my true feelings on Vimeo for you, but seriously, that was one of the best videos I've watched in a long time. True and heartfelt. I'm not taking ANYTHING away from your skills, Richard, but this was proof positive that content is king.
Richard Wakefield May 1st, 2009, 02:56 AM thanks so much Travis.....you're spot on. it's a nice feeling when someone watches it and homes in on Jess's amazing reactions and not the camera wobbles and lack of colouring. Jess REALLY made this piece!
some of my favourite clips on this forum are ones where i get totally immersed into the content and not the technical abilities, so i couldn't agree with you more! on that note, i'm STILL waiting for the day I have a bride/groom cry during the vows - i love it when true emotion naturally comes out!
