Is the conversion of AVCHD to DNxHD possible?

Any information on any type of similar workflow would be very helpful.

Thanks!

From Panasonic camcorders you can make easy conversion to DVCPRO HD (it can be native edited in MC).

From other AVCHD you can use other utilities of manufacturers, or other conversion in Vegas or Edius to MXF or DVCPRO HD and so on (better camcorders use DVCPRO HD or MXF, AVCHD is new).

Sorenson Squeeze (which comes w/ Media Composer) and TMPGEnc Xpress 4.0 both do AVCHD to DNxHD conversion.

If you select the proper settings for your Avid project type, the DNxHD QT file will fast import into MC w/o an additional transcode.

Peter what version of Sorenson Squeeze are you using for this?

5.1.0.

Hope that helps.

P.S. Although it looks like the latest version is 5.1.1.16, which I just got a message to download, LOL.

Hi, I hope you don't mind me asking but how are you getting the avchd files into Squeeze? Are they avchd or avc-intra files? When I try to import Canon HF100 files into Squeeze I get an error message that the file format is not supported!

What's the extension of the file?

The file extension is .MTS and are files from a Canon HF100.

I have used .mts files with Squeeze, but haven't tried files from the HF100. If there's a way for me to get sample footage, I'd be more than happy to try it out.
