Hey guys, whats up ? Im planning on buying an ATR55 Shotgun mic made my Audio Technica. I have a ZR60 so the motor noise is justy horrid on recordings. I know this shotgun mic isnt the best but it should imprive the sound over the onboard mic, correct ? Do you think this mic would be good for some short movies and a TV show im making with my friend ? All comments are greatly appreciated.

The ATR 55 is a very good low-cost shotgun. A little thick, but with some pulldown in the 500hz range during the editing stage, you'll be very happy with it.

Is that mic a metal case, or is it plastic? I'm kinda interested in an inexpensive shotgun (no phantom) to mount on my Pana DV952 when II 'fly' it with a Hollywood Lite stab.

Looks like the mic is plastic, that is ok though. Its only about 49.99 to 59.99 ....so its a GREAT deal. Im definatly now going to get this.

I have an ATR55. The body is metal. Seems well-made for such an inexpensive mic. I have used it for over a year and it has always performed well for me...

Cory, you should go with the Canon mic.

Where can you get it for $50 or $60? The price I keep seeing is $80.
