View Full Version : Hello From South Florida
Hugh DiMauro December 22nd, 2005, 08:43 AM Welcome (or dare I say, Shalom!) I do mostly wedding videos but would like to try a bar/bat mitzah or two. Your company name, "Alef", possibly a reference to the first letter of the Hebrew alphabet, "Aleph?" :-)
In any case, welcome. You are amongst friends in your field of endeavor.

Joe Carney June 29th, 2006, 12:09 PM Just got back from my sons wedding in Boca, missing FL all over again. Drat.
Even Disney was great this time (lots of family from all over country were there).
The rain didn't dampen anything at all.
Have to quit doing this.
Rob Lohman June 29th, 2006, 12:26 PM Hey, good to hear you made it back! And congrats to your son and his wife.
I sent you an email a couple of days ago, just so you know....
Josh Chesarek December 9th, 2006, 09:27 PM Hello :) Long time lurker <-- Join date  I have been reading the forums a lot lately which has a ton of great information and tonight I filmed the Shuttle Launch with my GL2 (XH A1 is in the mail). I am a student and happened to get into video when i was asked to film a soccer game 3 years ago and got hooked. Now I just spend my time trying to get better at a hobby I love :) Nice to meet you all finally!
Steven Gotz December 9th, 2006, 09:34 PM Hey Josh,
I watched it from my back yard in Clermont.
I was out in Winter Park this morning. One of the local guys is selling out his entire video editing equipment stash. I was too late for the lights, but if you need any VHS decks or other misc equipment, tomorrow (Sunday) is a good day to get some great deals on cables and decks and cameras and software and training DVDs and you name it. Contact me from my web site for more info if you wish.
Josh Chesarek December 9th, 2006, 09:36 PM Dang... that sounds like a good deal but I just spent a lot of money on my new Camera and such :p I should probably resist temptation but I doubt that will happen ;) I have enjoyed the resources on your website for some time now while using premiere as my editing program.
Mike Teutsch December 9th, 2006, 09:51 PM I'm very jealous Steven. I drove up to Titusville Thursday, early afternoon, got a perfect spot on US 1 right across from the launch pad. Wide open, no obstructions, pulled the motor home in and I was on the roof with my XLH1 when it was canceled with about 5 minutes to go. Boy was I disappointed. I do hope that I get to see one.
Mike
Josh Chesarek December 9th, 2006, 09:57 PM Well I am sure it wont compare to the HD footage you would have got but I have the video I took tonight up on my website.
Mike Teutsch December 9th, 2006, 10:06 PM Well I am sure it wont compare to the HD footage you would have got but I have the video I took tonight up on my website.
Josh,
I did look at it and I appreciate it.
Thanks----Mike
Martin Smith June 17th, 2007, 02:26 PM Wanted to say hey to all here at DVINFO, I recently purchased a Canon XL2 and will be using it our next season, We primarily shoot (Photograph) Cheerleading and dance competitions nationwide and will soon offer videos on dvd at the competitions.
So far I have only experimented with the XL2 locally for some out and about shoots mostly shooting footage of the lakes and waterways here in central Florida in hope to become acclimated with the manual controls found on this very sexy camera.
Anyway... Hey everyone...
Martin

Gerry Gallegos October 29th, 2007, 09:27 AM Hey guys I didnt know where to post this question but i guess this is as good of a place as any. I live in Antigua West Indies, and will be traveling to Miami later this week, I am trying to find a place where I can purchase Sony Vegas pro 8 , but not being familiar with where to go to find this Im at a loss... If anyone can suggest a store or company that might sell this? also would like to stock up on some filters and accessories. I shy away from mail order because Antigua customs charge up to 65 percent duty on technology items so I would rather pick up while in Miami. Any help would be appreciated.

Here is a link to all the dealers in Florida that might carry this product. You can do a find for Miami and call a few places to see which one you like.

Denny Gay November 7th, 2007, 02:41 PM Just saying hello on this busy Florida thread. I just started a wedding videography bussiness in Tampa and love it. We are about to do our first big wedding next weekend.
Sebastian Baron November 7th, 2007, 05:04 PM I'm impressed the number of Florida guys out here, good to know I'm not the only one who has to suffer with the weather (or enjoy... I can't decide sometimes). We shoot down here in Sarasota, it's nothing formal but we've done a couple gigs and short films etc. We shoot with 2 XH-A1s, couple tripods, a Merlin, shoulder mounts, some basic stuff and edit on Final Cut and Adobe Premiere. We also go alll out with the sound. Would be interested in working with anyone in the area who might need any help with any projects.
This is a great site btw... wouldn't have gotten far without it. Anyone up for suggesting a list of rental houses in florida? I think that might be a great resource for everyone on here.
Jim Montgomery November 7th, 2007, 06:22 PM Good grief, where did you all come from. I thought Joe, Mike and myself were the only ones here.
Jim
Nick Orsini January 26th, 2009, 09:36 PM Well it looks like this thread has been dead for over a year now so I will be the first to revive it since I am new to the boards. This will also give all new Floridian posters a chance to introduce themselves to the community. I'm hailing from Miami, FL and am working at the Miami International Film Festival while trying to finish pre-production on a Short Film I'll be shooting in March. I'm also looking for anyone in the area who would want to take part in the affair.
Happy Shooting
