I was wondering if any of you users out there use filters to get the film look? I have been to a dv seminar a while back and they have suggesed using tiffen filters. I just forgot which ones they metioned. Can anyone help me out here with the tiffen filters or if there is a better brand of filters to achieve this look.

That's probably the TIffen Pro-Mist series. I use the Black Pro Mist myself. It doesn't give you a film look by any means, it just takes out the harsh sharp look video look out of your picture.
This short was shot entirely with Black Pro-Mist filters.

the Cokin sunsoft works wonders...a little film blur plus a little warming tone.

WHichever the shot needs.
Most of the time I use it (which isn't that often) I think I use the 1 or the 1/2.

Please take a look around our dedicated film look forum (http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=34).
Basically there is no Film-look(tm) filter... It's a combination
of a lot of things.
Also take a look at my first posts in these threads:

Welcome to dvinfo, Michael!
Bill, you beat me to the punch. I also have a Cokin Sunsoft, and I have noticed that many TV show scenes and some movie scenes look like the Sunsoft was used, or something similar to the Sunsoft. So in all honesty, I would have to say the Cokin Sunsoft gives you the film look, or at least one of the film looks. :-))
Actually, I have a number of Cokins, and I sure like their effects. Plus Cokin's are inexpensive. Good bang for the buck. :-))
