I noticed a small black blotch at the bottom right of my viewfinder. It doesn't show up in my photos and there isn't any dust/dirt on the glass of my viewfinder...where could this blotch come from? I thought if it was on the inside of the cam- mirror, or ccd it would show up in photos.

Lastly I found 2 dead/hot pixels (one white, one blue). This is normal correct? Can they, indeed, be "mapped" out- if so...is it done under warranty?

The dust is probably up in the pentaprism. Only object on or in the lens, or on the CMOS chip will appear on the image. Dust etc. on the viewfinder, focusing screen and pentaprism have no effect.

How did you find the dead/hot pixels? May be covered under warranty, but there occurrence is rare with these type of cameras.

Found them with longer exposures. However, they don't have to be very long exposures to show up. (Very long as in 8" and slower) I took some shots at 1/8 and saw them- I can post examples if need be.

Sounds like you might have a service issue. I would contact Canon Service and send examples of the problem. They will be able to map out the pixels.
