i've found the 501 to be more than sufficient for the DVX, especially with the 515mv legs.

Chris Hour July 25th, 2005, 09:55 AM Hi Will, I just sent an email re: DVcam tapes. Thanks Chris Juan Parra July 25th, 2005, 10:27 AM The Porta Brace TQ-30 Quick Tripod Case is a 30" long slim-line, light yet strong case for carrying a tripod with a head and accessories. I bought this bag not long ago, but never used it thinking I was going to travel a lot. So it never happened. At this moment, I'd rather invest this money on a lighting kit. Porta Brace TQ30 (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=productlist&A=details&Q=&sku=283611&is=REG&addedTroughType=search) US $140 + shipping Did I mention is like new and that I have pics? Voila Michael Best July 25th, 2005, 11:29 AM Why are you moving over to the Canon? George Su July 25th, 2005, 11:46 AM Not really sure if I am yet, but I do more work shooting on the XL2 with the mini35 adaptor, than with the DVX. So I'm not really getting my money back on the Panasonic. Dan Mangos July 25th, 2005, 12:49 PM I'm in the market for a used FX-1 or Z1u. Please specify if it's grey market or US model. I may also be interested in the camera itself without any accessories. Thanks. Patrick Smith July 25th, 2005, 12:58 PM Forsale: Bought it from a member a couple of weeks ago for a out of country shoot. Greg Boston July 26th, 2005, 12:11 AM The specs you are quoting apply to the 'just released' Imac G5. I doubt you will find anyone parting with a used one since they won't have had time for the new to wear off yet. You will likely have to buy it new for $1799.00 Good Luck, -gb- Jason J. Gullickson July 26th, 2005, 09:57 AM Charles, what did you think of the JR? We've been experimenting with hand-made rigs (I have access to alot of engineering/machining talent) and are trying to decide if we want to build something better or if we should just buy off-the-shelf. The price is right for the JR, but I wasn't sure if we could do better ourselves. We're shooting with small cameras now and the biggest thing I can see us using in the near future is a Sony HDR-FX1. (if you posted something about this elsewhere just a pointer in the right direction is appreciated, I looked but I didn't see anything). Charles Papert July 26th, 2005, 10:20 AM Jason; I would point you towards the homebuilt stabilizer site, http://homebuiltstabilizers.com/, if you haven't been there already. A system with a vest and arm might serve you better in the long run than a handheld system. The primary reason I could see to get a JR rather than build something yourself would be that you consider the hours of building and tweaking to be worth less than what it would cost to buy the JR. Jason J. Gullickson July 26th, 2005, 11:52 AM Thanks Charles, homebuiltstabilizers.com has definately been a source of inspiration for the work we have done so far :) We're getting to a point where our productions are getting large enough that we don't have as much time to build everything from scratch like we used to, so I'm really on the fence with this one. I know that experience plays a large part of getting the most out of any sort of stabilizer so I was curious how you felt about the JR and what sort of results you were able to obtain with it. Do you have any examples of work you've done using the JR or was it more for personal/private use? You mentioned Zach borrowing it, is the work he did with it avaliable for viewing? Thanks again Charles. Charles Papert July 26th, 2005, 12:15 PM I hadn't used the JR for many years, which is why I sold it. The couple of jobs I did with it were in the early '90's, don't even have copies of it. I will say that even as a big-rig operator where many of the skills were transferable, the JR did require me to learn new skills and keep on top of it. Zach borrowed my JR to do walk-throughs for a music video he was directing. He couldn't get either of his DV cameras to balance (I had warned him about that process) and thought it was a pain in the arse! If you spend plenty of time with the JR you can make some great shots. It does require constant fiddling for balance, but it does have the quickest controls for balance amongst its competitors (I think--I haven't kept up with all of the other rigs out there). Jason J. Gullickson July 26th, 2005, 01:10 PM Thanks again for the info Charles, if I end up in LA sometime I owe you a coke :) Next time you talk to Zach tell him we loved Garden State. I'm looking too. wonder how much you got yours for and where - if you found one, that is. Thanks, Andrew Hsu Morning Star Videography Fred Finn July 27th, 2005, 07:55 PM I have two viewsonic CRT's for sale. They are the a90f+ and the a91f+. I got them both within a month of each other last winter. So they are new and are in great shape! They are a bit pricey to ship, but it is possible. They are in Lincoln Nebraska if pick up is an option for you. I'm looking for about 150.00 a piece. They are in the 200.00 range brand new. That's 150.00 for each one, or 300.00 for the pair. Thanks, Fred David Lach July 27th, 2005, 08:01 PM I bought a 14x instead, which turned out to be much less expensive and as useful to me (think I paid $500 for mine). EDIT: Sorry I changed my response as I thought you were asking about the FU-1000 for some reason (I was also looking for one at some point). I worked too long on my computer I guess. Can't see clearly anymore. The 16x can fairly easily be found on eBay for less than $1000. I've seen a bunch of them in the last few months. Richard Alvarez July 27th, 2005, 08:05 PM 800 to 900 seems to be the going rate for the 16x on Ebay. Bout the same for the 14x and 3x as well. |
