Has anyone come across any plans for building an edit table/desk. I'm designing one out of 2" x 4"s, 2" x 6"s and plywood. I would like to see what details I could include.

I haven't seen anything. But I would take very large tables
with much depth and a ridge above it to place monitors on.
Also some holes near the back probably to route cables through.
A cable system under the table might be nice as well to have.

I build this pine desk with a bit of help from a friend. Its made from solid pine.

It includes a Monitor stand, space for 2 VHS (consumer) Space to fit equipment between the desk and the monitor stand. There are no draws.

Think about what you have, and what you would like to get. Then make your desk around that.

I built mine using two 45-dgree cut pieces of white, vinyl countertop and three steel sawhorses from Home Depot -- when assembled it makes a 90 degree corner table. Probably cost me $40 or so, though I can't remember offhand.

The countertop is easy to clean (just bleach it and scrub), and the sawhorses are each rated to hold up to 1,200 pounds of weight.

Just for grins, browse the Best Buy website. They sell a variety of furniture that may generate a thought. I have a little half shelf on my PC desk that a VCR deck fits under nicely. They made room for the Epson 960 I bought to do DVD labels.

Well, after gathering a bunch of ideas, I have now set off to build my own. The plans are on Rev 6, and I'm pretty close to starting construction within the next few weeks.

BTW.. Ed, nice job on your edit desk. The curved surface is something that I currently have in my design. The hardest part is fitting the surface onto a 4x8 piece of wood.
