Ok, I bought a Me66/k6 set up for my dvx, and I was planning on using the mic on the cam. However my need for a low profile setup makes the Me66 too long and obtrusive for an on-camera setup. That being said, I will be backpacking across Central Asia, W. China and Tibet starting this may, and will be shooting a doc as I go, knowing that all of my gear will be in a backpack and the size is important, I am thinking of sending back the Me66 in exchange for a ME64. Here is why:
1. the cam's stock mount is delicate
2. the windscreen is prevalent in the viewfinder, adding the need
for a secondary mount (Lightwave, etc.)
3. I will be primarily recording interviews via a lav
4. for interior shots with voices and noise I would like to catch reasonable ambience and room tone.
5. I will be traveling by foot (weight and size important)
All this being said, I am seeking a little guidance on the ME64, it seem to be what I am looking for, but I am up for suggestions.
Info needed quick, gotta get the Me66 back to B&H
Cheers,
