hey guys, is there a list somewher which details what DV decks are supported by EIT TO TAPE?
specifically, my Sony DSR-45.
i have read that one can only assemble edit to DV. but i am getting nothing.

Here is the list (http://www.apple.com/finalcutpro/qualification.html) from Apple's site. I'm sure the DSR-45 is supported.

Can you be more specific about the issues you are having?

sure, the window just sits in black when i attempt to Edit to tape.
to the 45. will to print to video fine.
edit to tape works on the beta deck. the portocal on the list says firewire. is that the only way to edit to tape...but how would that work?
anyway, ive had the system a year but have never had the need to edit to the dsr-45 deck.
is the assemble edit only thing true?
thanks.

In order for edit to tape to work on that deck I think you must have a little bit of black for the tape to pre-roll into. Are you attempting assemble edits or insert edits?

You could also do RS-422 control editing but would require a serial connector and software. I use RS-422 to control my Betacam decks. I think we have talked about this in the past.

yeah, 10-4. i am using sony rs 422. kona sd ntsc keyspan serial.
i have tried both insert on a blcked tape and assemble. no go on either on.
the line goes. knoa to beta to dsr, all componet video.
so i have to have the beta in record to get a picture on the dsr. but still no-go. its stopping in FCP4. so i dont think its a deck problem.

The Sony is going to have either a switch or an item in the on screen menu to set control to RS-422. The deck needs to be setup in FCP and told to use RS-422 control protocols. If the serial cable is running to, through, the Kona card, it could be an issue with the card.
