i've seen a few open source burners that work quite nicely but i've yet to see a very competent, stable, solid and advanced open source video editor. there is only one and it runs on linux, the Linux Video Editor (lve), but are there others? anyone know?

There used to be "Free DV" which was a subset of EditDV but I don't know if it's still available anywhere.

That's different than the one I remembered but will certainly meet your requirements. The one I remembered was an offshoot of EditDV. This one is an offshoot of Avid.

Oops... Missed the "open source" requirement - was simply thinking "free".

reason why i said open source is cause they do excellent work. if you've used open office or gimp for windows, etc. you realize that they are an unstoppable team. i mean you can use open office+gimp for FREE!!! =). it is unbelievable! i just someone wrote one for vid editing that can be ported to windows =(. check this article out:
