Laura Beth Love February 17th, 2004, 06:44 PM Where can I rent the mini 35 adapter for the DVX100 in the Los Angeles area? I have called every house on the zgc website and they either don't carry it, or have sent it back! Guy Genin February 18th, 2004, 04:37 PM Today there are Mini 35 Digital adapter for the DVX100 at the following locations: Film/Video Equipment Service Co. 800 South Jason Street Denver, CO 80223 +1-303-778-8616 Stratton Camera 23560 Haggerty Road Farmington Hills, MI 48335 +1-248-427-6400 TCS - Technological Cinevideo Services 630 Ninth Avenue New York, NY 10036 +1-212-247-6517 Hand Held Films, Inc. 315 West 36 Street, Suite 2E New York, NY 10018 +1-212-502-0900 DuAll Camera 231 West 29th Street, Suite 210 New York, NY 10001 +1-212-643-1042 Most everyone will ship across the country. Alain Aguilar February 21st, 2004, 07:33 PM The guys from DuAll Camera (NYC) are great. I would definitely recommend them. They will even give you a little training before you take the package home. David Ziegelheim April 22nd, 2004, 10:55 AM Question 1: Where in NYC/Northern NJ can you rent a Mini35/DVX100A combination? Question 2: Do the rentals require 35mm film lens rentals (expensive) or do they use/include 35mm still lens rentals? Or are the 35mm film lens rentals less expensive than I think? Thanks, David Adam Burtle April 22nd, 2004, 05:15 PM from what i hear, rental of some film lenses (i.e. cooke) will be around the same cost as the mini35. by itself, mini35 is about $250-400/day? ..depending on where you are, etc.. and this is hearsay, so check for yourself before believing me haha. I would imagine $500/day or $550 would cover 2-3 lenses and a mini35. but, like i said, never believe me hehe. David Ziegelheim April 22nd, 2004, 05:53 PM Adam, have you tried a 12-step program... Alain Aguilar June 2nd, 2004, 02:56 PM Check Duall Cameras in NYC..They are really good.. Charles Papert June 2nd, 2004, 04:21 PM I have used a Mini35 system from TCS in NYC for two jobs and had no problems. Here's a link (http://www.zgc.com/zgc.nsf/902a2548f82c5d6505256b4f00545f81/f424e9ff3ae158c785256b7e0070e4c5?OpenDocument) with the contact info for both TCS and Duall. You don't have to use the most expensive lenses (Cooke S4's), a set of Zeiss speeds will be quite a bit cheaper and still better to work with than still lenses. Be aware that you will need a certain amount of accessories as well: mattebox, follow focus and a head capable of supporting the 20 lb system. The rental house should be able to guide you into a package. Keep in mind that a weekend rental bills as one day, so if you were really on it you could pick up Friday afternoon, shoot half a day, then 2 full days and return on Monday morning for a single day's rental. Eric MacIver June 7th, 2004, 11:16 AM Hello, this is not meant to be an advertisement. I just started a small rental company in Los Angeles geared towards Indie Filmmakers, and we feature the Mini35. I would love it if those of you who have rented the equipment we rent out would let me know if our prices are in line with other rental houses. We are aiming to be a lower-cost option, but I haven't been able to check with all the rental houses to find out how we stack up. Comments on the prices for any of our items would be appreciated, but specifically the Mini35. Our Website, with pricing is at www.IndieRentals.com Thank you very much. Daniel Stone June 7th, 2004, 01:11 PM Pricing is not bad. Do you rent to the east coast? Charles Papert June 7th, 2004, 02:55 PM Hi Eric: The going rate for the Mini35 in town is $200-250, and a 3-day rental week is pretty standard. I would call Otto Nemenz and Birns & Sawyer to confirm this. Otherwise, I think you've got a pretty good setup going. You may well know this, but there is a renegade title floating on your "other equipment" page--the Varizoom title on what should be the Indie Dolly item. Eric MacIver June 7th, 2004, 08:34 PM Thanks for the advice guys - I've revised (lowered) all of the prices on the site across the board. Better way to at least get this company rolling, and I do want to be able to beat the prices of the larger houses and still offer the other advantages listed on the front page of the site. Anyway - as many comments as people feel like giving about the site, prices, business, etc. I'd appreciate them all. Being a new company I could use advice, and I really want it to be able to successfully cater to the needs of Indie Filmmakers. Thanks for the catch on that title. As for renting on the East Coast, we may be able to arrange that if you were to rent for a week or so. Let me know what you need via email and I'll help you out. Thanks Eric MacIver (rent@indierent.com) Barry Green June 8th, 2004, 12:30 PM I tried going to that site, but it keeps bringing up something about a book. There's a banner at the top that talks about indie rentals, but everything else on the page is pitching a book. Eric MacIver June 8th, 2004, 12:57 PM Thanks - I was just re-uploading the site, and overwrote it with another site I just finished designing (www.theatlantischronicles.com if you care) - www.indierentals.com should work fine now - just hit refresh on your browser if you see any problems. Josh Allen June 8th, 2004, 11:04 PM Eric...I cannot offer advice on prices but do have a silly website comment...you may want to change your links to manufacturer's sites to open in their own window, this way folks easily and quickly get back to your site after reading the manu info. Just a thought... Eric MacIver June 10th, 2004, 10:58 AM Thanks - I usually do that on sites, but forgot on this one... Thats what I get for putting it together in 4 hours :) - I'll get that implemented soon. Kevin Lee August 4th, 2004, 09:42 AM Just out of curiosity, has prices for the Mini35 dropped by any chance or has it remained the same? How much is a unit these days? Barry Green August 4th, 2004, 12:11 PM Seems to me they've gone up. A complete kit is now hovering around $10,000. Rob Lohman August 5th, 2004, 06:49 AM You might find it a bit cheaper second hand, especially the older models. But not the new ones. Kevin Lee August 5th, 2004, 10:52 AM How much would a second hand unit go for? And what would the reason be for the price going up? Josh Brusin August 9th, 2004, 01:27 PM the euro vs. the dollar...? Dennis Hingsberg August 13th, 2004, 11:43 AM Used 300 series units when you can find them usually sell for between $6500 and $7500 USD which is what I paid for mine. (there are three 300 series versions with subtle differences) Many resellers of the mini35 carry used ones for sale so I would start there. Regards, Jason Epperson September 17th, 2004, 10:06 AM Does someone know any other vendor we can purchase the P+S Technik converter for the DVX-100 besides the P+S Technik website? Charles Papert September 17th, 2004, 10:44 AM www.zgc.com Craig Bellaire November 11th, 2004, 01:11 PM we are looking at buyinga mini 35 xl2 set up and need help findinga vender and would like to buy everything at once.. thanks Mizell Wilson November 11th, 2004, 02:49 PM www.zgc.com 973-335-4460 ask for Chris mizell Craig Bellaire November 11th, 2004, 04:33 PM and we are buying 2 xl-2's and a mini35... Not bad for a day job I guess.. Thanks Holly Miller March 4th, 2005, 07:41 PM I was wondering if anyone can help us out with directing me to who might have the cheapest rates for either the Mini35 400 series, or the Mini35 400 series packaged together with Cooke S4 or Zeiss T1.3 superspeeds. We would much rather use the Cookes. The Mini35 is to be used with the XL-2. Holly Miller March 5th, 2005, 02:37 AM Also, it's a two day shoot in Cleveland, OH. We're renting everything else in a 10 ton package and driving it up from Miami and Columbus. Eric MacIver March 6th, 2005, 01:47 PM I think I've just spoken with someone that is working with you by the name of Kevin. I've emailed him some rates, as we pretty much beat everyone on price. If, however, this is a seperate project, let me know and I can help you out. Thanks Holly Miller March 6th, 2005, 02:04 PM Thanks Eric! Yes, Kevin's a really rad guy to work with. I've been working for him close to a year and a half now. Funny that as I am typing this I recieved a message from him saying that he found the best rental place for the package and that I can move onto other scouting. I know that he's got a few projects coming up, and a lot of solid returning clients so I'm sure he will be bringing you back a lot of rentals! Holly Miller March 10th, 2005, 03:06 PM We've got a music video coming up in Chicago, IL. We need a rental house that is fully equipped with standard film tools. IE: Chapman PeeWee dollie, follow focus, 6x6 mattebox, lighting and generators, etc. The shoot is 2 days. First day in Chicago, and second day in Peoria. Also seeking local crew, if anyone knows some narrative film types from Chicago with 35mm experience or extensive music video experience please have them contact Kevin Maistros via email with resume/reel if possible - kevinm[at]kmdstudios.com (Change it to @) Producer/Director is Major Lightner (NYC) Producer/DP is Kevin Maistros (Orlando) All other crew welcome to apply. Pay, Meal, and Reel. Mroczkowski Lucas April 8th, 2005, 06:19 PM Hi If you have good experience with the mini35 adapter or the owner of one and are in or around Chicago please reply to this post. I'm looking for a DP who has quite a bit of experience with this. thanks or just contact me writelucas@hotmail.com Steven Fabian August 3rd, 2005, 08:33 AM Sorry, but is the Mini35 unit designed to work specificaly with either a PAL or NTSC camera. Charles Papert August 3rd, 2005, 10:26 AM The only spec is the 1/3" chip for the Mini35 (the Pro35 is required for 2/3") and the specific optical relay and physical mounting kit for each camera that is supported. NTSC or PAL versions of the cameras are both fine. Ben Hurst August 18th, 2005, 07:38 PM Does anyone know anybody who rents their mini 35 setup for an XL2 in Salt Lake City. Let me know, Thanks! Eric MacIver August 24th, 2005, 07:20 PM I believe you called me, but FYI, I do ship our unit anywhere in the continental US. Ben Hurst August 25th, 2005, 06:24 PM Eric, you di help me out, however, I can't afford to pay for the days that it is shipping, I can only afford to pay for one day on this cheap shoot that I am doing. Thanks. Eric MacIver August 26th, 2005, 11:01 AM Ahh... no problem. Yes, 2+ days is optimal when shipping. Best of luck, Eric Cody Mielke November 26th, 2005, 04:49 AM Just wanted to pass along a note, that I have started a small rental company in Vancouver "Guerilla Film & Video Rentals" (http://www.guerillarentals.com) and am currently renting Mini35. Thanks! 300 bucks a day is waaay too much for me though, considering the fact that I can barely even afford lunch on a daily basis. Colin Minihan December 11th, 2005, 11:37 PM Cody, the mini 35 worked great for my music video shoot last week, thanks again, we'll be using it very soon for another video. www.digitalinterference.net Jeff Ray January 12th, 2006, 04:16 PM Hey guys, Sorry for the over excited title there...(needed everyone's attention). I will be shooting a music video in Austin at the end of January and need a P+S Technik adapter to rent to go along with my SDX-900 camera. Does anyone have their own adapter with lenses that would be willing to rent it out to me? And if not that, does anyone know of a rental house in Austin that has the adapter? Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks again. Jeff Ray Dennis Hingsberg January 12th, 2006, 05:31 PM Have you contacted the friendly, wonderful and nice folks over at ZGC.com ? Jeff Ray January 12th, 2006, 07:13 PM I have before, but aren't they located soley out of Dallas? |
