Hi Everyone,

Can the XL-1s go below a shutter speed of 60? And can this be done without using the Digital Effect Button.

Oh, while I'm at it. Can you also do this without a lens attached?

Justin, I don't have an xl1s but from my demoing I think all you need to do is set it to manual mode, and then use the little doohicky on the left side to adjust the shutter speed up and down.

Okay, that's a good start. Can anyone give me a breakdown of all the available shutter speeds?

The operator's manual says you get twelve speeds between 1/8 and 1/15,000 on the NTSC version of the XL1S when running in Tv (shutter priority) mode.

These will be the slow shutter speeds 1/8, 1/15 and 1/30, plus
1/60, 1/100, 1/250, 1/500, 1/1000, 1/2000, 1/4000, 1/8000 and 1/ 15000.

However in the full manual mode there's 1/60, 75, 90, 100, 120, 150, 180, 210, 250, 300, 360, 420, 500, 600, 720, 840, 1000, 1200, 1500, 1700, 2000, 2300, 2600, 3000, 4000, 8000, and 1/15000.

Add to that the Clear Scan feature with 117 steps between 61.9Hz and 201.5Hz.

What's up, Justin, you don't have your camera in front of you?

Hi Chris,

I'm just checking to see if I really need to upgrade to the XL1s. One of the main things I'm looking for is if I can shoot at 1/30 or even 1/48 in Manual mode without the standard 16x lens attached.

You can't do that with the XL1, and I was hoping the XL1s would be different.

Thanks Chris for your help!
