I recently bought a XL1S for a short I’m doing. When I have brought the captured footage into Vegas Video I noticed some areas of the image seem to have real anti-aliasing problems. Particularly red on black and thin black metal chairs against light yellow.

Also, 1/2 of the movie will be shot at night outside. Any tips?

do you see this on your TV ?? if you shot interlace video - your computer monitor is progressive ... therefore you will see more of this problem when viewing on computer ..

night shooting can be tough!

how much lighting equipment are you planning to use or have access to ?

before you start shooting your project ... take your XL out to the locations where you are planning to shoot ( at night) and shoot some tape- bring along another person and shoot them in the locations - try different GAINS & white balances ... look at the tape on good monitor .. that should give you some idea of of how much you'll need to light ...

I have noticed a similar problem with reds... My current hunch
tells me that this is due to frame mode. I still have to run some
tests to verify this, but a loaned my XL1s to a friend of mine
currently, so that is not gonna happen in the next couple of
weeks.
