Hi all

I know this question has probably been asked before but if I use an MA-100 with TWO microphones does the normal shtogun mic at the front of the XL1s still record audio.

Are four audio channels recorder onto the tape or are they mixed? Or does the MA-100 plug into Audio 2 for the shotgun mic to work.

I believe premier Pro does not log the audio properly if 4 channels are used. How do I get this audio into Premier for editing?

Thanks for the help.

Donie - You might want to read the articles found here (http://www.dvinfo.net/canon/articles.php#audio. XL1S audio can be configured in a number of ways through menu and switch settings. The WatchDog articles will help sort it all out.

I use Premiere Pro with the Matrox RT.X100 card. The Matrox software can capture four channel audio, but I'm not sure if the Premiere capture program will do it (I never use Premiere for capture). Once captured, you'll have no problem working with four channels in any version of Premiere. At least any version from 6.0 on.

Thanks for that. I'm still stuck with the problem of getting the audio into the pc though.

Is it possible to buy the Matrox RT.X100 card on it's own without Premier as I already have it.

Donnie,

try using Scenalyzer (http://www.scenalyzer.com) to capture the 4 channel audio. Scenalyzer is a low cost but extremely effective capture/export utility that is better than 90% of the utilities that come with other NLE apps.

Thanks so much. I'll give it a bash and see how it works out.
