My chipset currently supports this program. According to Intel, it's suppose to "enhance/boost performance & such" ... Anyone tried it?

Would this benefit editing video? Anyone have any experiences?

It improves performance when you're using RAID with the ICH5 controller as far as I know. ICH5 is the RAID with the SATA connectors.

Usually you don't need to bother with RAID unless your hard drives are a bottleneck. DV editing is fine with 7200rpm hard drives. The 10k rpm SATA drives (the WD raptors) and SCSI drives (15k, 10k, 7.2k, etc.) aren't worth using for DV.

I'm sure this varies from motherboard to motherboard, but ussing IAA is the only way to get my Western Digital 120GB Special Ed. drive to work in Ultra DMA Mode 5 in its IDE channel. Without IAA, Windows XP defaulted the drive to PIO Only, which made editing and capture impossible. I doubt many newer PCs need this.

My PC is a Dell Dimension 4100 PIII 866 purchased new in Nov. 2000.
