This is the Series 2 of the Evolution System.
Major improvements to the 100 system are 30%
reduction in size and weight (making it smaller
than the Samson Micro32), more channels,
auto scan for free channels, more intuitive
user menu, AA battery powering rather
than 9V for longer operation, and transmitter low battery indicator *on receiver*. The 500 system has same improvements as the 100 plus
improved signal-to-noise, large backlit face
(yeh!), backlit buttons, and transmitter peaking
status on receiver.
Same metal construction as Series 1 and similar
price.

Dave,
Even with the new G2, the battery status of the transmitter is NOT displayed on the CAMERA mount receivers.

Also, The G2 100 and 500 camera mount receivers have baclit displays, Transmitter Peaking Indicator and NO backlit buttons.

Based on the manual the 500 reciever has a balanced output and charging contacts for rechargable batteries.

I would love to hear from folks out there what they are using for mic's in their 100's or when they come - the new G2?

I've been using the supplied lav, and it's alright, although not really memorable.

Thanks,
Milt Lee

When do you think they'll be available?

For voice, the ME2 it OK. But I would like a smaller head for 'movie' work. Probably a Countryman or Tram one of these days.

For other use, I supply another style of microphone and use the plug-on transmitter.

So far, I've gleened that

the Countryman

the Tram and

the AT 899 would all be excellent for video use. Now the big question - will these all be usable with the EV100 series transmitters. I have both the plug on and the body pack transmitters.

Or is it time to trade up?

thanks,
Milt Lee

All of them are available with the Locking Mini connection specifically for the Sennheiser Evolution Series.

Someone elsewhere claims to have seen a G2
system for $610.
