I saw a post on the general forum about how the built in 16:9 looks better than cropping 4:3 in post because shooting in 16:9 is easier on the DV compression (less information to compress). Which should I do? I do like the option of reframing when shooting 4:3 then cropping.
Any additional tips before I start shooting?
Thanks

You might want to try a test and see what looks better to you but I would crop in post on this particular cam. The DV852 does not have a quality widescreen mode like the DV3000, DV953, PDX10, or GS100 so resolution will be lost with either in-camera or post 16:9. At lleast with post you have more frame to work with.
The DV3000 that is referenced in the general forum is a unique cam with its digital wide mode and not a really good representation for most MiniDV cams. I've replied to that particular thread in greater detail.
