I know that it already has a 'lens hood' but this doesn't work in all situations with some aberations still. anyways look forward to hearing from anyone with any advice

The best deal is to step up the 43mm to something like 52, 55 or 58, then buy a typical rubber hood for the camera.

You could try to make a black rubber lens hood from a toilet plunger (http://www.ryniak.net/camcorders/images/plunger.jpg). Here's a picture. (http://www.ryniak.net/camcorders/images/plunger_actual.jpg)

That's pretty slick, Guy!

How did you attach the hood?

Brandt,
Not my camera...I picked this up on another site. However, the rubber is stretched over the outside of the lens. That's why the cutout is not measured from the mouth of the plunger. You have to cut at a diameter slightly smaller than the OD of your lens housing. In the picture, the lens is the Century Anamorphic, which I believe is a 72mm. I suspect one could find smaller plungers that would work with smaller OD lens housings.

Damn. I'll have to start looking at toilet plungers! What you guys would have us do. Great idea, by the way.
