J. Clayton Stansberry January 5th, 2004, 11:55 AM Anyone going to be there to announce to us?...please keep us posted...can't wait!
Jeff Donald January 5th, 2004, 12:06 PM Chris Hurd will be at the show the entire time. If anyone is at the show, you can find Chris at the Canon booth. He is always glad to meet and greet DV Info members at the shows.
Mark Nauth January 5th, 2004, 07:30 PM Anybody know if CES shows prosumer grade camcorders?.... Meaning camcorders like DVX100A or XL1S? The reason I ask, is I'm not too interested in camcorders that I could run in and pick up at Ultimate Electronics or Best Buy... I want to know if we'll be seeing quality camcorders that would be geared toward the independent filmmaker....
Lambis Stratoudakis January 5th, 2004, 07:45 PM Mark everybody hopes but I dont think that it will be like this:-(
Off cource everybody whait for a camcorder that have Sonys PDX10 Native 16:9, Sonys 170 Low light, Panasonics 24P & Manual control, HD etc... and all that for 3000 $!!!
But I dont think that any off the companys will give that to us. Its will be a marketing move that's KILL the proffesional line.

P.S. Still hope to see this. And my hope is that Sony and Canon must react very fast before Panasonics new DVX100a is in everybodys hands.
Sonys PD 170 Sound problems and Canons very old XL1s will not hold against Panasonic for a long time.
Frank Granovski January 5th, 2004, 08:07 PM Okay, I'll hold my breath. Jan. 7th is only 2 days away.
Glenn Gipson January 6th, 2004, 11:58 AM Since HDV is meant to be a consumer HD format, and since the format did come into agreement last fall, there is a remote possibility that there could be a new HDV camera there.
Chris Hurd January 6th, 2004, 03:13 PM The format came into agreement only last fall, meaning that actual production is still a ways off. It usually takes about 12 to 18 months (or longer) to bring a camcorder design concept to the market.
Michael Wisniewski January 6th, 2004, 09:04 PM And here I am, ready to pick up an Optura Xi tomorrow ... if they introduce anything good, I'll be banging my head against a brick wall with a big fat grin on my face.
Christopher C. Murphy January 6th, 2004, 09:08 PM I'm actually not bummed about the HDV competition cameras...I bought a JVC only a short time ago. I'd like to get some use out of it before feeling like I have to buy something new.
Ok, forget it...I want a better HDV cam with full manual controls!
