I was writing a good long article in Word. Then it froze, and I had to reboot the computer. I opened it again, and my article reappeared, but it froze instantly. I re-opened it again, but my article was gone. Can I dig it out of it's auto save function somehow? I only had about 30% of it saved. It's not a big deal, but if I can save it, it will save me an hour of typing.

Thanks.

Go look in your temporary directories under C:\Windows\Temp
and C:\Document and Settings\<loginname>\Local Settings\Temp

You will need to have "view hidden files" on to get to the second
location. It might also be that Word has written some hidden
backup files in the same directory where the Word document is in,
but they probably are gone now since you already opened it
again (and lost again).

My guess you're unlucky due to the second freezing. Save often!

Doh!
Nothin'.
Thanks for trying though, Rob.

Sorry to hear that, Dylan. I'm still using WP 6.1 for DOS and have set my backup for every minute. This way I lose little if it crashes, however, my MS DOS 6.22 never crashes. :-))
