Hello,

I have had a job come up where they want me to shoot in a shallow pool for a little while.

I have called around local rental shops and have only found a housing for a Sony FX-1. The housing and camera would be $375 a day, which is fine but they do not have any lighting for underwater use.

Any ideas for what I might need/be able to rent for shooting in a shallow pool?

I am thinking I will need some font fill.

Do dive shops rent anything like this?

I have never shot video underwater and am guessing I need to bulk up on my insurance if I rent?

What are you shooting? If it's shallow and wide angle do you need lights? You mentioned the FX1 is that what your shooting with?

I know a great guy is TX who could probably house and shot anything from an HC1 to RED

I am meeting with them today to talk about the shoot, so I don't know much at this point.

The Sony FX-1 is the only camera housing I could find to rent, so I will have to use that camera.

The subjects will small kids to infants in and under the water which they want me to capture from below.

I think the pool is outside.

This is not a huge budget project but the client is willing to rent some stuff.

I would think lighting would be needed to give some separation for the subjects as they might be backlit when shooting upward towards the sky.

I am going to call some dive shops in a minute and see if they have any lighting rentals, although the colors might be all over the place.

A friend of mine uses a Canon 5D MarkII with an underwater housing that works really well for underwater footage. He uses an Ikelite.
