I'm reading the 2-page .pdf blurb on this little camera. Very impressive! 16x Leica zoom, 12-bit A/D, 30p mode, infrared w/illuminator, 3-1/4" CCD's, big manual focus ring, SMPTE timecode and bars, 2-XLR option w/48v, 3.5" monitor, etc., etc.

If anybody is out to the Expo tomorrow, drop by the Panasonic booth and play with one. When and how much $$$? The DVC80 is $2300, hopefully the DVC30 will be well under $2k.

Thanks...

They've got one at DV Expo?

Hopefully feedback will be forthcoming. I'm all eyes and ears. :-)

It's very similar in appearence to the Sony PDX10. Only better, I suppose.

If someone plays with one at Expo, tell us about the menu set-up. How hard/easy is it to tun the basic stuff. Hopefully not too gruesome.

Here's a link to the .pdf file. And yes, Panasonic announced that the DVX100a and DVC30 would be at Expo.
