First off- Thanx Chris for the watchdog feature listings- I bought a couple vhs! copies of the films listed and learned a bit about the XL1 capabilities.
I attended the AIVF sponsored presentation on 35MM XL1 blowups last week and was quite impressed at the voodoo that enables a 1/3 in image chip to be blown up to fill a 1.85 theater screen. OK,it ain't a DSR500ws but it sure can be done. Also recently saw a local music documentry projected that I swore was shot with a DSR300 or such and was I surprised that it'd been done with the XL1- looked at times like run of the mill super 16, images running from so-so to downright stunning.
I'd love to see a real $2-4mil 35mm indy film done with a Canon.

Well, how does Steven Soderbergh sound? I don't know what the budget is yet, but he's shooting the sequel to "Sex Lies & Videotape" mostly with an XL1S, starts production Nov 5th.

This is what I've been waiting to tell you. See the Watchdog for a few more details... we'll pick up fruther discussion about this in the "DV for the Masses" forum. Hope this helps,
