Hey electonics guys! I need some advice on making a mobile battery pack for my Playstation PSONE and LCD screen. There are battery packs available, but I can't find one localy, and don't have time to mail order.
I've been running the LCD off 2 6v lantern batteries, but would like a way of doing it with C or D cell batteries so I can buy rechargables, or at least cheaper batteries.
Anyway, if someone can offer any advice, let me know what power info I'll need to find out, and I'll post it.

I'm not familiair with the naming scheme you use for those
batteries, but normally you can string batteries one after another
(+ into - etc.) to add the voltages.

The link below is a battery pack that will hold 4 D cells, you'll need two (wired in series) to get the 12V you're looking for. They would allow you to use rechargable D Cells.

I've been wanting to make something like this for a while, to power my XL1 LCD screen off rechargable batteries, instead of disposable 6V lantern style ones.

Or you can get yourself a three-leg regulator chip and supply the 6 volts your screen requires from the 7.2 vold LiON batteries your camera uses. The only trick is making or finding the battery mount although that shouldn't be too hard.

Hey Dylan, if you need a reliable 12V rechargeable supply, how about trying a good old-fashioned lead-acid! They are great for the money, and put out a lot more amp-hours than D cells.

A single Bescor HP3 shoulder pack is 3 AH, is 5.5"x3"x3" and only wieghs 2.8 lbs, and comes with a charger. I use these things to power on-camera lights, which are hungry little devils, so you should get lots of time per charge. Of course, those D cells in the Radio Shack battery holder will work too.

Thanks guys. I ended up breaking down and buying a rechargable battery pack off Ebay (cheap, really cheap), with the intent to also run my LCD monitor on my Canon XL1 with it.

Just curious, how does the PSOne factor into it; are you using it in the field somehow?

Alex, it doesn't really, long term. Short term, I wanted a battery pack for the PSONE so I could use it while travelling.
