Seriously, which cam tickles your fancy and why? Is it the PV-DV953? The GS100? The Canon Optura Xi? Which one? And what are you going to use it for?

My choice would be the PV-DV953 for almost everything except trying to shoot a wedding with it. For that, I would love to own a Sony VX2000 at twice the cost.

Maybe the new DVC30 will be a good choice, however, its CCDs are still smaller than those in the VX2000.

I guess it all boils down to the cost of the cam and how quickly one can recoup the initial investment.

Perhaps it's just a matter of taking that leap of faith and hoping for the best. :-)

I think you are correct in saying it depends what you are going to use the camera for.

For me, I do a lot of travelling and hence, a lot of video of outdoor scenery. So I need something small, not to heavy to carry around, and that delivers great footage in outdoor light.

My vote goes to the PV-DV-953. ;-D

On the whole I like my DVC200 it coast me a bundle for it, (We and I do mean we as a family worked it off…. I waterproofed this guys outside wall of his building it would have cost him about 15,000 we did it for the cost of the camera.) Yet I love my little Canon Ultura for the small to get at shoots. Then I do like ht e DSR500 when I get to work with John he has a rig one hell of a setup.

But would you believe this there are times I love to use my old and I mean old Panasonic SVHS this thing does take nice footage.
