Im wondering what peoples recommendations are for on camera lighting. With the stuff I have done and hope to do with my XL1 (older) I want good on camera lighting. I have a pro light with a anton bauer belt but hate carting it around in a run and gun gets wearing. I need something for ENG/ Documentry work, also run time is going to be important.....I might need to be up at times all night (3hrs) and carrying around a ton of gear with tripod can get wearing . So what are the groups suggestions. Im considering the frezzolini mini fill kit with a extra np1. Anything that might cut besides that, and if that is the "it" kit what are the run times and can I charge 2 bats of the charger?

This is my next big investment for my camera (after the 16x manual lens love it). I have a light kit, lectro wireless, etc but a good on camera light matters, I shot something a while ago with my b cam a pd100a and kept having to buddy up ( basically hi there can you turn your light on 1 more time bro) to a beta crew to get the light I needed, I want to not have to poach off others lights so tell me what should I get.

Thanks,

Michel

PS Chris if you are out there as the recomendations come, if its not a huge hassle could you email me which sponsers carry that item, i would like to do my part to support the forum/ dog.

Hi Michel,

have just been through the selection task andhave had input from any sources, the Frezzi seemed to have the edge. The advice was to go for the Dimmer version giving the flexibilty.

I chose not to go for the XL-1 Mini Dimmer Fill Kit as I prefer to set up my own battery packs. I bought the Std Mini Dimmer Fill 50W (with some 75 Watt lamps for more range) along with the Softbox and Filter Set and the Double Barndoors.

Bought from Frezzi direct without checking other sites, Frezzi were the most expensive. Yeah I know, should have checked.

Regards
Andrew

The Frezzi mini fill would be a good choice,

also check out www.aspenelectronics.com

At NAB, they were showing a battery pack and light that was made for the XL1.

Michel Brewer, thanks for asking, check with Pro-Tape at www.pro-tape.com for various on-camera lighting options. Also ZGC at www.zgc.com as I think they do as well.
