I'm just wondering,

What's the difference between extracting the 24 frames per second from a camera using pulldown and then exporting it from an NLE with 24fps

and

shooting 60i and exporting the video uncompressed, with 24 frames instead of 29.97? Would either solution provide the same result?

In the second scenario, perhaps the video could be recorded manually onto the tape by playing it into a deck. Would the video play back, considering it wasn't in 60i as exported from the NLE? If it were to work, wouldn't this be an easy solution to achieve the 24fps look?

I'm assuming you're talking about NTSC video cameras (your location is blank). NTSC video cameras only record and playback 29.97 fps. TV's only display 29.97 fps (with a few exceptions).

In your 60i experiment the sequence would be choppy from the missing frames.
