i finally saw this thing in action and i cant stop drooling. I saw it on a canon xl1s and on the new panasonic sdx900 *wipes drool* the footage is amazing. the only problem is that now when i rent it i am going to need an AC. We are hopefullying going to be shooting a music video with the big boy setup. The Panaonic SDX900 with the pro35 and some nice prime lens.

Good call Alfred. It's a must. I'd recommend getting the most experienced 35mm-savvy focus puller you can; shooting at the apertures preferred by Mini35 users means some tough focus pulls, even for seasoned AC's.

I shot a spot a few weeks back and my AC had a fine pedigree, having been the B camera 1st assistant on a $50 million feature we were all on this summer. Even still, I can't say that all of the footage we shot was tack sharp. He did a fine job under the circumstances, which were demanding--some long lenses, shooting between 2.4 and 3.5, not much rehearsal and moving camera. There are many factors in focus pulling that not only involve skill, but taste and judgement (how fast and when to pull a rack focus, for instance) and it takes a lot of experience to get there.
