I'm from Sydney, N.S. which is about a 4 hour drive from Halifax. I'm currently studying Film Studies at Carleton University in Ottawa, which sadly has less video production aspects than I would like. I love working with Video and Film and have been doing so since I was about 12 when I first got a hold of my parents video camera and started filming stop-motion animation lego films.

Justin, give me a shout some time if you're in Sydney this summer. There are a few of us Cape Bretoners making some short movies. Do you have any equipment or anything? What's your specialty (DOP, editting, producing, etc)

My email is contact@bradmills.ca, I'll give you my number if you email me there.

Actually, that isn't a slight. #10 was my hockey hero as a kid.

Hello from Nunavut, lived all over this country at one time or another. Noticed some guys here from Cape Breton was born there but left a life time ago.

Main video interest is wild life and the great outdoors in general. Main camera is the XL2 but have a variety of others including some head cams and wireless video transmitters for stationary cameras while shooting unpredictable creatures.

Courtenay, BC.

Doing video production for an online learning company (ilscorp.com). Pretty small right now but we're expanding a lot and it's fun to be here. We're just installing Vegas 6 right now over an old copy of Premiere 6.0 and life is good. Very much gooder indeed.

Hi,

I'm in St. John's, NL. Shooting using an XL2 with a Red Rock M2 35mm lens adapter, a bunch of Nikon prime lenses and many other gadgets. Always looking for others doing the same thing. If there is anything I can do to help anyone, just let me know.

Nice to digitally meet everyone.

Hi, recently joined, just bought Canon XL2, what a beast, will spend the next few years trying to figure it out and make the best use of it.
I am using this, hopefully, to make short aircraft maintenance training videos, and corporate training videos - boring I know but...., I am Head of Training for the largest helicopter operating company in the world. Living in Vancouver, been in Canada since 89, ex-Brit military.

Hi Stephen, I'm in St. John's, and I'm the last guy that did a video for CHC!!! Say hi to Chris Flanagan for me. Tell him that with global warming, the weather here is better than the weather there now.

The XL2 is perfect for what you want to do, which is what I do.

Don't know what your experience level is with the camera, but my advice is keep it in manual mode all the time and learn to use your exposure and shutter speed to adjust to the situation. A light kit is a must as well. A little bit of light goes a long way. Also, pick up the Canon 3x extra wide zoom. It's the lens I keep on my camera most of the time. The XL2 can change lenses. Take advantage of that.

That's my bit of unsolicited advice.

Enjoy the mountains.
