Bruce S. Yarock January 31st, 2010, 09:31 AM I'm finalizing a shoot in New brunswick on Feb 15. It's going to be photography and video of some lab demonstrations, several interviews, broll, etc. I'm bringing my photographer, myself and as much gear as possible.
I shoot ewith an H1, a1 and a 7D. I want to use the 7d as much as possible, but am concerned about audio and having a good backup in case of focus issues. I'm considering shooting with both the H1 and the 7d, and using the H1 for the audio.
If someone in New Brunswick is experienced with the H1 or A1, and has a basic knowledge of sound, and lighting, and can help us move things around, then that would be great.
Anyone interested can email me directly at
yarock at a o l dot com
Thanks
Bruce Yarock

Shaun Roemich February 1st, 2010, 09:10 PM Lloyd, I'm sure it's not your intent but the PHRASING of your ad essentially says "non-Christians need not apply". The test for bias is often "could I replace "x" with another word and would it be acceptable?" Like "black/African American" or "straight"...
I'd suggest trying the following:
We are a Christian non-profit group that is finalizing the script and preproduction of a new Christian film that is partly documentary in nature and party drama. The goal of this film is to lead people to Christ and the sets will be highly spiritual, prayerful, etc.
Each speaking shot will be done once through in English and then again in Spanish, so being bilingual is a plus (but not requirement for non-speaking parts).
We are currently putting together a potential crew list for this project which is due to start late Feb or March. We are currently accepting resumes, demo reels, head shots, applications, etc. We are currently looking for the following:
* Actors (all ages, shapes, sizes. There's probably a part for everyone, albeit minor). There are main roles and roles for extras.
* Assistant Director to work with writer/director. Experience necessary.
* Videographers (we are recording in 1080i and 1080p at 24p. Camera not necessary, but helpful). Experience with jibs, dollies, steadicam is highly recommended.
* Editor (Premiere preferably)
* Adobe After Effects artist
* Sound engineer
* Grip/lighting
* Original Music composer
Interested? Please email your pitch to me. Include as much info as possible. Head shots, resume, testimony, or anything else you may find important. We will be doing a casting call based on the information emailed. We will advise the exact date(s) we will be coming to Las Vegas when we get closer.
We are doing this on a volunteer basis almost exclusively. I'll be glad to answer any questions.

Jason Bodnar February 2nd, 2010, 04:17 PM Well, one of the Camera operators the director had chosen is not going to work out so a slot has opened again for this position.... Paul Cronin, Walter will be contacting you soon to touch base and see if there is still interest. Others please foward me your contact info and I will pass it along to the director.... See start of this thread for details.
Thanks!

Paul Cronin February 2nd, 2010, 05:15 PM Thanks Jason appreciate the heads up on the call.
David Johns February 3rd, 2010, 02:39 PM Hello,
I've got £250 (UKP) on offer for someone who can film me a given list of shots in the Blaydon area of Tyne-and-Wear.
I need standard-def PAL, footage ideally sent to me as captured DV .avi files eg on compact flash (eg if using Sony Z7) or burned to a data DVD. No editing, transcoding or any processing required, just the raw footage.
The shot list isn't defined yet - will be meeting with my client this weekend to pin it down but it will be GVs of locations around Blaydon. One obvious example is the Angel of the North but other more mundane shots will be included...
Don't need anything too arty, just nice (in focus, properly exposed, non-wobbly!), clean shots, maybe some pans, focus pulls, even an occasional zoom out if the scene warrants it.
Should be around half a day's work for someone in that area of the country and you'll need to assign copyright to us in writing.
Any takers? I'll need to see evidence of your own personal filming work (URLs / YouTube / Vimeo probably best)
Drop me a note via the work website (below)
Regards
Dave

Jason Bodnar February 3rd, 2010, 05:55 PM Well, I apologize...but I jumped the gun on my last post... Due to some production glitches (they always seem to creep up don't they) The additional cameraman position is in a holding pattern right now... I will report back if ther is any change in this status. Again I apologize for the post... Sorry Paul... Walter may still touch base with you but right now he is running around with his head cut off dealing with other areas of the production.
Paul Cronin February 3rd, 2010, 05:59 PM No Worry Jason,
I wrote to Walter and he will touch base when he is ready. Also running around flat out which is nice, and look forward to the possible chance to work on the shoot in June.

Ken Diewert February 4th, 2010, 11:46 AM I had someone contact me about a video project in Northern Alabama (Guntersville). Sounds interesting, but I'm about 2,000 miles away so...
I've got his contact info, so leave a post here or PM me if you're interested in following it up.
David Johns February 4th, 2010, 02:08 PM Thanks to all who emailed - I'm looking through the replies and showreel links.
Any more are still welcome; always good to have a list of useful camera contacts for those distant projects...

Steven Davis February 6th, 2010, 10:53 PM I may have a job or two this year. Is there anyone in Richmond at all? Ok, other than myself.
Jerry Porter February 7th, 2010, 07:45 AM I go through there all the time. I live in NC, but work in DC a lot.
Steven Davis February 7th, 2010, 10:41 AM Thanks Jerry.
Jerry Porter February 7th, 2010, 11:07 AM And on a side note I was born in Richmond... Well, Ft. Lee to be exact!
Steven Davis February 7th, 2010, 11:51 AM They shot you out of a canon huh? :}
Charles Papert February 8th, 2010, 02:11 AM I'm looking for a budding colorist to grade a 22 minute short film under my supervision. I was due to do it myself but I don't have time and we have a 2 week deadline to hit. There will also be some fairly simple compositing and cleanup, via After Effects or equivalent. Project was cut on FCP7 (would prefer to do the CC in Color). Here's the backstory on the project:
Last year my friend Terry Beesley (http://pro.imdb.com/name/nm0066591/), a very talented actor and great guy, approached me about a short film he wrote and was to direct titled "Sunshine". Originally I was just going to lend him some of my gear but I read the script and thought it was fantastic, and offered to help him produce as well as shoot it for him. I don't shoot short film freebies any more as a rule (except for my own) but this project drew me in.
It turned out very well; both the acting and the script were strong and I think it will be a hit on the festival circuit--it recently got into Aspen based on a very rough cut. Terry's wife Ashley Jensen (http://pro.imdb.com/name/nm0421332/) co-produced and appears in it; she was unforgettable as Ricky Gervais' hapless sidekick Maggie from the HBO series "Extras", she was also a regular on "Ugly Betty" and is currently a lead in the sitcom "Accidentally on Purpose". Gervais saw the film recently and had this to say: "really elegant story telling...made me laugh out loud...played brilliantly".
All this is to say that the film has a bit of a pedigree and should have some visibility as a result. And yes, you guessed it, there's no pay involved for whomever may want to do this, as it was work that I was originally going to cover myself. I'm the first to suggest that we should all get compensated for our efforts but for those starting out (and even for those of us who have been doing this a long time), sometimes the rewards come in different ways. Obviously you would get credited in the film.
So if you have time in the next few weeks and are interested in tackling this, please drop me a line: sunshine (at) charlespapert.com. I'm looking for someone with a creative eye and expertise with the tools and I'm looking forward to collaborating with the right person on this. If you can link to examples of your work, that would be great. Also, due to the deadline, I would ask that only those who feel that they can commit to this should respond. It shouldn't take more than a couple of days in my estimation, depending on one's working speed.
thanks in advance--
Charles
Mark Solley February 9th, 2010, 03:32 PM Can anyone recommend an inexpensive space for a half day casting session in santa Monica?
Charles Papert February 9th, 2010, 10:56 PM Pretty quiet out there..
Christopher Drews February 9th, 2010, 11:19 PM Charles - Just sent you a message.

Brett OBourke February 10th, 2010, 01:31 PM Common Machine Prod. is a small but growing Miami-based production company, specializing in documentary, corporate video and commercials.
We've landed several big clients since the fall and have network programming and major corporate work in the pipeline for 2010.
We're looking for talented, experienced, reliable shooters and editors to add to our freelance corps in South Florida and Chicago, where we'll be opening an office in the summer (certainly not going to open an office in Chicago in the winter).
To be clear, at this time, we're looking for South Florida and Chicago-based freelancers only.
If interested, send an email with resume and link to your online reel to contact@commonmachine.com
thanks,
Brett
Troy Williams February 10th, 2010, 02:04 PM I am in Chesapeake whih is a about 2 hours away.
Steven Digges February 10th, 2010, 07:55 PM Two Camera Operators/Crew Members needed in Green Bay
We need two camera operators willing to do everything from shoot, light, and grip for a one day (and possibly two day shoot) in Green Bay WI around the first or second week in March (dates not set in stone yet). The shoot will include interviews (inside and outdoors) and sports action video.
Two matched HD cameras, Lowell lighting, etc. a plus but not necessary. Our own fly-a-way kits are getting more expensive to travel with all the time. We will consider your gear for a reasonable fee.
Please send your rates and information to steve@corporateshow.com
We are also interested in a good hair and make up artist if someone would be kind enough to make a recommendation for someone you have used.
Professional demeanor and work ethic are a high priority for us.
Steve
Jason Robinson February 11th, 2010, 06:03 PM I'm traveling to Seattle for my third annual stock footage recording session. I'm taking orders now. Does anyone have specific shots they would love to see from that area? I'll be in Tacoma, Kent, & Seattle proper for probably a total of 12-14hrs of shooting.
Equipment is a MiniDV SD cam (yeah yeah yeah... I know) and possibly a HD-DSLR (Might have a Powershot SX1-IS.... or the new Rebel T1i).
Even if you don't want shots.. what would be neat for me to try shooting? I'm specifically thinking towards time lapses.
Paul Gale February 12th, 2010, 04:58 AM I'm looking for a possible cameraman and XDCAM HD camera - EX1 / EX3 or PMW-350 to shoot a talking head IV in Perth Australia over the next month or so (exact dates to be decided). Pretty simple job but needs to be high quality + good audio (lav radio mic OK).
Anyone interested, please contact me at:
crew at siliconpixel dot com
I'll obviously need to talk rates, experience and see some example IV type work.
Many thanks!
Paul.
James Huenergardt February 12th, 2010, 09:38 AM Hi,
I'm heading up to Palmer on Sunday for a funeral of a good buddy of mine I used to hang out with in Alaska.
I'm bringing my Sony EX1, and some audio gear, but would rather not schlep my Rifa 500 and tripod up there if I don't have to. Still trying to figure out if I can fit them in carry-on luggage.
I'm producing a longer memorial DVD for the family (pro bono) and want to have people share their memories of the guy.
And, me and my 'professional' ways just can't stand to do anything less than a pro job on it.
Does anyone live in the Palmer area that could rent me a Rifa or equivalent and tripod for a few hours on Sunday?
Let me know.
Thanks,
Jim
Jerry Porter February 12th, 2010, 11:52 AM I have not been back to Plamer in a few years, but there really is not much there. It's a small town and any time I shot there I made sure I had two of everything because Anchorage was a good drive for any kind of replacement. Also, Anchorage is not very big either so finding spare anything there was also hit and miss at best. Like I said it's been years since I was there, but having lived up there for 4 years it didn't seem to grow very quickly. Good luck and sorry to hear about your friend...
Shawn McCalip February 12th, 2010, 01:14 PM The only "big" production business I know of in the Palmer/Wasilla area is a place called DotConn Productions. Not sure if they rent gear though.
If you have the time, it would be well worth the effort to contact a couple places in Anchorage such as Talking Circle Media or IMIG Audio/Video. I know they rent out gear. I'd call Talking Circle First, because I've dealt with those guys before, and they're pretty cool. IMIG would be my second choice because they come off as being somewhat aloof and kind of cocky.
Anchorage isn't THAT far from Palmer, but it will take some time if you try going during rush hour. Otherwise, it's a 45-60 minute jaunt. In Alaskan terms, that's next door.
James Huenergardt February 12th, 2010, 05:08 PM I spoke with Talking Circle and they don't have anything.
I ended up renting one from Bexel in Burbank and I'll pick it up in SEA on my way through.
Thanks for all your replies.
Gabe Strong February 13th, 2010, 10:46 PM I can't believe that no one mentioned Connections. Jerry is a great guy....

Paul Gale February 15th, 2010, 06:13 AM Still looking...
Christian Jolly February 16th, 2010, 08:45 AM Looking for shooters, send me a message if you're in the area and available this weekend. Thanks!
Chris Hurd February 16th, 2010, 09:36 AM It would help if you indicated the rate you're willing to pay
-- just to let folks know that you're not fishing for freebies.
Christian Jolly February 16th, 2010, 09:56 AM Are you telling me I could get people to work for free? Nice...I'll keep that in mind next time :)
In all seriousness, the pay is variable, but between $25 and $45 hourly (depending upon experience).
Nothing very demanding, pretty much working of a tripod. More details provided to serious contacts.
Eelco Romeijn February 16th, 2010, 02:32 PM We are planning some interviews in New York between 10 and 14th may.
It should be shot on XDcamHD ProDisk 50i.
Anyone available?
Please email me. eelco(at)picturethis.tv
Chris Hurd February 16th, 2010, 03:00 PM It's a good idea to indicate how much you're willing to pay.
Bradley D Barber February 18th, 2010, 09:31 AM I can be in the area. bradley at oldsouth media group dot com
Thanks
Bradley D Barber February 18th, 2010, 09:32 AM When was it shooting? I can be there if it is still open. Email me bradley at old south media group dot com
Thanks
Matt Newcomb February 18th, 2010, 04:32 PM Although, I don't think I have enough experience to do this task for you, I'd love to help out in an on set capacity if the opportunity ever presents itself.
Greg Patch February 22nd, 2010, 11:55 AM I'm in North Alabama, shoot me a pm with the info...Thanks
Ken Diewert February 23rd, 2010, 02:17 PM Sorry for not paying attention to this thread. I've forwarded the info I had to a couple of members who've contacted me already, so I'm leaving it at that for now.
Bill Zens February 24th, 2010, 11:02 PM Jason, lots of good oportunities for you to shoot...
*Get the seaplanes landing on Lake Union with the Space Needle and Mount Ranier (If it's out) in the BG. It'll remind people of all the shots in Vancouver that they are now showing on the Olympics. (Even tho Vancouver is actually just copying Seattle with our seaplanes!!!)
* You need to get shots of the Ferries. Plenty of good spots from Alki, Edmonds and other spots. Anything on the Seattle side is great because of great views with the Olympics (Mountains, not the sporting event) in the BG.
*Get Husky Stadium and the UW...
*And of course, what Seattle shots would be complete without the Pike Place Market and the Space Needle.
Have a great time out here. We are in the middle of probably our warmest winter in decades, with sunny days and cold nights.
Bill
David LeGroin February 25th, 2010, 02:22 PM Heath, if you're still looking to shoot, the Martin County Fair is right around the corner and not a far drive from Plantation.
Welcome to Martin County Fair one of the largest family events on the Treasure Coast of Florida held each year at the Martin County Fairgrounds in Stuart (http://www.martincountyfair.com/)
Heath McKnight February 25th, 2010, 06:20 PM Looks like I missed it, unfortunately. Did you shoot any video?
Thanks,
Heath
Paul Hudson February 25th, 2010, 06:48 PM I have some 720p 24fps and 60 fps footage of a carnival in Arizona.

Paulo Teixeira February 25th, 2010, 11:07 PM I received some responses already but I want to be in contact with as many shooters as possible. I'm going to add some cameras so if you have one of those, please contact me and theirs a chance that you may get a gig in the future.
JVC HM700
Sony NX5
Sony EX1R
Panasonic GH1
Canon HF S21
Panasonic TM700/HS700
Canon MPEG2 422 cam
I understand some of these aren't out yet.
I might even include people with either a 7D or a T2i but the chances are less because if I'm shooting a band for example, I want each camera to be recording for around 1 hour straight even if only 2 or 3 songs will get used for the video. Something to remember is that their a slight chance of heating issues if I want everything to be in 720 60p.
For people with either a GH1, 7D or T2i, tell me what type of lenses you have.
Make sure you have your own memory.
Ken Beals February 26th, 2010, 10:22 AM Experienced Glidecam Op. am going to be in W. Palm Gardens Florida area the week of March 7th.
Would love to be able to help on a project while there simply for the networking experience.
