SHORTS::CUT 2009
Shorts::Cut (http://www.portsmouthscreen.org.uk/shorts/) organises screenings in Portsmouth and Southsea, of short films by regional filmmakers (Hampshire, West Sussex & the Isle of Wight), this year, in partnership with The University of Portsmouth, Portsmouth's No.3 Cinema, and The Kings Theatre, Southsea.
Shorts::Cut is looking for short films by film and video makers based in the local region. For the past four years we have showcased the work of local filmmaking talent. For 2009, We are looking for entertaining, engaging and thought provoking films in any genre, from drama to comedy, documentary to animation.
At least one of the principal cast, or the writer, director or producer should reside or study in Hampshire, West Sussex or the Isle of Wight, or the film should have been shot predominantly in this area.
The deadline for submissions will be June 15, 2009. Films should not be longer than 15 minutes. For further information, go the the submission page.
This year, the screenings will be held at Portsmouth's independent arts cinema, No.3, Guildhall Square and the King's Theatre Southsea. The screenings will take place in August. Selected films can also be shown as part of subsequent events during the Portsmouth Film Festival.
Short films made in Portsmouth and the surrounding area could also win the award for Best Local film at The Guide Award 2009, organised by The News. Last year's winner (http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/guideawards/Best-Local-Film-Stolen-Youth.4703587.jp) was "Stolen Youth".
