On my Z7 I use the picture profile called Film Look 1 (PP5 on the Z7). One of the settings in that profile is Cinematone 1 color profile. I really like the way it looks and I think the colors really pop with that picture profile.

What would be the purpose for these modes

Some profiles are set to match various color profiles that are industry standards. For example Film Look 1 tries to match the color characteristics of cinema color negative film. While Film Look 2 tries to match the color characteristics of cinema color print film. While PD Color is an effort to match the color of PD cameras. Plus you can tailer your picture profiles to create your own special look. Or you might be able to develop a picture profile that will mimic the color style of "CSI Miami", for instance.

Or you might be able to develop a picture profile that will mimic the color style of "CSI Miami", for instance.

Please tell me that you can recreate that on FX1000 :-)

Do you guys prefer to adjust the colors in camera or in post.....or both? I have always left our Sony cameras (FX-1, Z7's, FX-1000's) pretty much at their default settings and then tweaked all of the colors when it was time to edit. I've always felt that if I did to much with the color on the camera, I might not be able to go back in post. Thoughts?

I'm with you. I do all tweaking in post. Every time I try to make it "better" in the cam, I end up screwing everything up.

I do try to balance all my different cams so they look as similar as possible, but otherwise adjust very little in the cam.
