Hello!

Does anyone know if it is possible to transcode HDV footage coming off a compact flash (Z7U) into the Prores codec through log and transfer function in Final Cut Pro? I'm unable to find where you can set the import settings? I'm using the latest version of FCP on an intel based mac. I can do this with easy setups when capturing from tape but don't see how to do it on log and transfer?

Thanks!

I might be wrong, but I think you need a card from AJA or DeckLink, or the ioHD. Maybe even Matrox's MXO2. I believe you need those if you want to capture and make your video ProRes on the fly.

Maybe a Wrangler should move this over to the Final Cut Pro/Mac Editing section?

You can do it if the video is coming in via Firewire. There is an Easy Setup for 1080p24 to ProRes, but I was able to make a version that converted 720p30 HDV to 1280x720p30 ProRes. The results were stunning to say the least.
