Hey guys,
I'm doing wedding videos and I'm looking for the way to record audio instead of using the built-in mic on my Canon XHA1 camera.
I was thinking of buying the Sennheiser ew 112p wireless system.
I don't want to plug it onto the groom or bride or priest, but I was thinking of putting in the area between the priest and the B&G for example hidden in some flowers.
While the Sennheiser 112 is an omni mic is it good enough to record audio in a distance of about 5-6 m. ? Will the audio quality be good enough or does it really have to be attached on someone ?
Is there another system what I can use (wireless) for recording the area sound in good quality. I've heard about boundary systems such as Shure MX 690.
But I don't have a clue what to choose and I have a new wedding coming up next week.

The audio quality of a wireless lavalier mic or a wireless handheld vocal mic at 10 to 15 feet would be very poor. You could use the transmitter with the appropriate input cable and a battery-powered boundary mic from Shure or Audio-Technica, but again that's going to be very poor for picking up the vows. Usually a cardioid or hypercardioid condenser on an appropriate stand can be placed closer. Finding a good boundary in a good spot is often impossible.
I'd use the wireless mic on the groom, although there are many small recorders that people use for weddings by placing it directly with the groom and don't worry about transmitting it wirelessly to the camera.
