Hi there,
Would love some help understanding just what kind of 24p the new little Canon will have.
A review I just read elsewhere on the web says that:
"the 24P recording on this camcorder is not an emulation of 24P, and not the new native 24P mode on the Canon HV40 HDV camcorder"
O.K.
So what kind of 24P is it?
Thanks for any help with this.
Malcolm

You can't trust what you read elsewhere on the web... 24p in the Canon HF S series is no different from 24p in any other AVCHD camcorder. It's 24 frames per second in a 60i wrapper. Nothing wrong with that, of course, but there's nothing new here.

thanks for the reply, Chris.
It's very disappointing to me that these things aren't made clearer, and in fact, almost seem to be (deliberately) made confusing.
Is there some reason why they can't make true 24p (not in a 60i wrapper) in AVCHD? Do you have to go with the Canon HV30 or 40 to get true 24p in a small camera?
cheers, Malcolm
