Hey there,
I have never tried to hook up the camera (GY HD 110u) to an HD TV before via the component cables. I did that today and only got a grainy black and white picture. I checked the cables and they work fine with another device.
Is there a setting that I must use before I play back video from my camera to play on my TV?
Thanks.

First, hold down the status button on the left side of the camera, and get into the main menu, select video format. Under video format you will see the option for output terminal, if you select output terminal you have the options for component, composite, and auto. In auto the video signal will output component or composite. Now in the same video format menu, select the hdv pb output, this is where you can select what you output to your monitor, options are native, ntsc, 480p, 720p, and 1080i. If you select native the camera will change output to match what went onto tape.
So if you recorded 720p to tape, then 720p will play out to your monitor. You may also upconvert 720p to 1080i by choosing 1080i in the hdv pb output menu. If output terminal is set to auto and the hdv pb output is set to native and you still don't have color on your tv, check to see if your cables are connected right, from top to bottom, green - video/y, blue - pb, red - pr,and make sure they match on your tv. Hope this helps.
