I've searched here and there, and was wondering if anyone could shed some light on this for me. Say I'm done with my project, I've made sure that my levels are good and that distortion isn't present. What else should I do before exporting to tape/final medium? I seem to remember from a Videomaker article that you should export your whole audio timeline losslessly and then equalize it among other things. I'm not looking to create DTS 5.1 home theater experiences, just nice stereo sound. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Well, you might normalize the track before exporting. If you just
want to export the track just use a WAV file without any compression,
keep in mind that DV audio is 48.000 hz.

I do suggest if you want to change the audio to another sampling
rate for example to use another program then Premiere. That
program is horrible with audio (at least prior to the Pro version
which I haven't seen/tried).

Thanks for respsonding! I was beginning to wonder if anyone would ever reply to this thread! I know to export at uncompressed 48 khz - we're using 16 bit audio so there won't be any sampling conversions down to 44100 hz or anything of that nature. Just normalizing the whole thing would do the trick? I imagined there would be a bit more to it!

It all depends on how your audio is ofcourse. You might play
with equalizing or normalizing. If it sounds good to you then
your done, basically.
