I'm doing VFX for a friend's short film. For a variety of reasons, I'd like to take some scenes from day to night. I've tried and re-tried Andrew Kramer's d2n methods, but can't seem to get a decent night-look. I think the problem is that the thing was shot in bright daylight. Given what I've got to work with, is there some combination of tweaks I could make that would be 'good enough' to help this pass for a night shot?

The jpeg is full-frame.

The tiff is cropped to keep the file size below a meg, as that seems to be the systems attachment limit. I've included it in case anyone is willing to try it out for me... ;-)

It's pretty much just a matter of playing around with it until you get it right. Here's one I did for a film I'm working on where most of it was shot during the day when it was supposed to be night. YouTube - Day For Night (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fzq3RwlDByc)
It's not perfect but I think it works. I ended up having to make a couple layers and feathering parts to get some places a little darker and some lighter.
