Can I film a multi-cam prep and ceremony in 720-60p (for better slo-mo) and the reception in 720-24p (for the low light) then mix it together in FCP?

John Stakes March 5th, 2009, 11:32 AM To my understanding you can put both of these on a 30p timeline. I think you would also export at 30fps. I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will chime in. JS Shaun Roemich March 5th, 2009, 12:58 PM Dana: in order to get "better slo-mo" with 60P footage, you need to change the playback speed of the clip in Cinema Tools PRIOR to bringing it into FCP. If for example, you imported the 60P clip and placed it on a 24P timeline, it would not play back automatically in slo-mo. It would play back at it's actual speed and probably require rendering. If you applied a 40% Speed filter to it, FCP would double up frames as necessary to make it play back at 40% RATHER than using individual frames remapped. Dana Salsbury March 5th, 2009, 04:58 PM So if I had, say, two clips that I wanted to slow-mo, I would film them in 60p, import them into a 30p timeline, then find and convert short clips from the capture file in Cinema Tools individually? So I wouldn't be using basic motion to do it. It seems arduous, thought I can see how it would generate better slow-mos. Is it possible to jump from FCP to Cinema Tools with a particular clip?
