I saw on a picture Dan posted (http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/attachments/canon-eos-5d-mk-ii-hd/10734d1234040182-hoodman-danredrock.jpg) that he has a Tokina 28-70mm zoom attached and I wanted to know how bad it is for video?
I've sold my Tokina four years ago due to lack of sharpness for quality prints but for video it just might do. (Specially the internal focusing ATX 280 Pro version)

The Tokina 28-70 ATX-ProII and it is pretty good for video with the 5dmkII (oddly it is sharper by reputation than the newer 28-80 you mentioned). The Tokina has a fairly nice look but as you say is not 100% sharp wide open, I would prefer to use a Nikon 28-70 f2.8 but the Tokina is fine for most things. One word of caution, the lens does shift focus as it zooms but that doesn't bother me too much as I rarely zoom on the 5dmkII.

I loaned that 28-80 Tokina today and it is of a different design than the 28-70mm one.
It seems to keep focus when zooming. And the loaned one has a picture quality of a usual 2.8 lens - a tad soft wide open (like a twenty years old 28mm f2.8 Sigma prime) - usable for video and not at all usable for 22MP photography.
