I gotta tell you that those web sites look just a bit too cheap with just a few two many graphics mistakes.

I still feel that this is a hoax. A nifty hoax but a hoax all the same.

But I've been wrong before.

The folks on the WEVA forum who are part of the Sony camera committee haven't mentioned anything about this. I'll have to ask them directly and see what they say.

Mike, how do you explain the various file links to press releases on Sony's website(s) in that case?

It's real. Go to sony.com, and you can get to sony europe from there, so that pretty much authenticates it.

Boyd, it is possible to fake all of that. I'm not saying that is true but look at the Sony European web site. It looks like trash compared to any other Sony site. Monochrome, words and numbers cut off.

I know this type of scamming is possible, even Amazon and other companies have been hit by this level and sophistication of spoofing.

I'd feel more certain that these are real products if I found the press release on the main Sony site. In fact I've not seen a real press release. Nor mention of it in sony docs on IBC. Just raises flags.

I don't care if they have new cameras or not. Most of us wouldn't walk across the street for the new goodies if we already owned a 2000 or a 150.

But it sure is entertaining, eh?

Click on "global home"

Click on the Europe continent.

Click on the word "Europe" and it will take you to www.sony-europe.com, which is where the VX2100 announcement is hosted.

The announcements have all been Europe-based and for PAL cameras so far, which is why Sony USA doesn't have any info on it. But just because it isn't USA doesn't mean it's not legit.
