I am trying to find a lens attachment that will allow me to focus closer with the lens on the XH-A1. I am working on a history project that includes lots of small photographs. I know the wide angle attachements are common, but can't seem to find a close focusing lens.

Any suggestions or ideas?

I don't know if this is a possibility for you but why not just use a still camera with the lens you need? The resolution should be good enough to pan and move around the pic in post using the Ken Burns method.

Your best bet quality-wise would be to scan the photos, then perform any movements in post. It will take a bit longer than recording with the video camera, but the increased quality is well worth it.

Take a look at these.

Canon | 72mm 500D Close-up Lens | 2823A002 | B&H Photo Video (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=cart_accessories&A=details&Q=&sku=87500&is=REG)

Tiffen | 72mm Close-up Kit (+1,+2,+4) Lens | 72CUS | B&H Photo (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/56784-REG/Tiffen_72CUS_72mm_Close_up_Kit_1_2_4_.html#accessories)

The Canon is superior quality. Not sure if you can stack them like the Tiffen.

Be aware that scanning pictures at high resolution can introduce some interesting image effects/artifacts, especially if it is printed material that has a regular dot pattern.
