After read a lot about this great camera, I have to ask why this cam not records:
1.- SD format (720x576) for long events or for fast editing for web material. SD is great for this.
2.- SD format with 4:2:2. OK, HD 4:2:2 is not viable... but SD is good for web and DVD material and 4:2:2 will be great for starting to do chromas, etc, and the way to purchase better cams.
3.- OR SD format with a codec like DV (or AVHCD intraframe ON SD, NOT HD, for fast editing).
Yes, I known that this cam is a PROSUMER, and if you want something like 4:2:2 or AVHCD intraframe you have to go to a +10.000$ cam. But I think that SD format with this options will not canibalize the big prize cams. We can start to work and test good color corrections, good chromas, fast editing for web and DVD.
HD is great, but why we have to lost SD format in new cams when a PHOTOCAM records lot of resolutions. Is only a software update and will be VERY useful to get the SD option.
Why we have to record in HD, edit in HD (very slow) and convert to SD for final output (or edit in SD after capturing in HD and converting to SD) ?
IMHO, SD is NOW a PROSUMER format, not PRO (this terms are going to FULL HD). Please, if only point 1 is activated, this will be a great option. Points 2 and 3 will be a fantastic dream.
Usable SD format was universalized in 1995 with DV format. 14 years ago!!!!
The wish: SD 4:2:2 intraframe (like DVCPRO 50 with a modern codec).
