Does anyone have any experience editing .MOD files in Adobe premire? I just got the clips and they obviously will not work. On my laptop they appear to be .mpeg eventhough they have the .MOD extention. My windows media player plays it fine.

Does anyone know a simple conversion method? If you have any other comments please advise.

Here's a link that may help: How To Convert .MOD Video Files To MPEG-2 On Mac And PCs - Robin Good's Latest News (http://www.masternewmedia.org/news/2008/06/12/how_to_convert_mod_video.htm)

I think (don't have any clips to test) that you can convert these in MPEGStreamclip (excellent freeware, at Squared5.com) . It requires Quicktime to work. It will convert any kind of mpeg file (which mod files are) to any of a number of other formats. //Battle Vaughan/miamiherald.com video team

This link that he provided at the bottom is by far the best solution I cam across.

Here's a link to a neat freeware tool that renames the files and handles the flag that sets widescreen or sd format. The link is down in the messages from the author at CNET: use my tool sdcopy.exe - CNET Camcorders Forums (http://forums.cnet.com/5208-7594_102-0.html?forumID=59&threadID=145687&messageID=2536449)
