Don,
I have no intention to mislead you with bias towards the FX1, but in my cases I thought it performed wonderfully. To caveat that however, I had almost complete control over the conditions the camera was being used in and did not need to worry about being surprised by poor lighting. I am not a professional wedding videographer (only a really technical guy that enjoys video and photography for pleasure and some part-time jobs) and purchased this camera along with an HVR-A1U for my own personal wedding and my brothers. For my wedding, an experienced shooter and his partner did all the camera work on the day, but I was very proactive with the planning and knew what to expect at both the Church and reception hall. I know that professionals that are doing a wedding a week or more are not always working in familiar territory and need to be prepared for the worst, but in reality some good planning with the bride and groom can mitigate many of the problems you hear in the war stories.
I actively read the posts on the wedding forum as well and there are a lot of extremely intelligent and experienced people here that know what they are talking about (whom I really don't want to contradict). I think that the advice you have heard regarding the low light is correct if you want to equip yourself to be best prepared for low light; I'm sure the FX1 cannot match the output of the PD series in that regard. In my situation, I felt the significant gain in resolution and flexibility in post by far outweighed the low-light advantage and that the capability of the FX1 and the A1U were sufficient for my expectations. Just my opinion. Sorry if this doesn't help at all.

On a tangent, there is a discernable difference between the HDR-FX1 and the HVR-A1U in less than desireable lighting with the FX1 being more suitable.

In my very subjective opinion the Sony VX/PDs are THE wedding cams to own. The only reason I'm selling my VX is because I purchased a second PD-170. I needed another cam with XLR for a second wireless.

PM me your information if/when your ready. Thanks.

yeah, I've been looking around on ebay. The prices seem really high though and no way to tell if the camera is good until I get it (and then it is too late if it's bad). With the new A1 out now, i thought possibly some folks here would be upgrading and looking to pass on thier used equipment.

:-)
Lisa what price range are you looking at.
I am getting ready to sell my GL1, 1 BP915 Battery, 3 (BP945 long life) Batteries, VL-10Li video light, Canon WD58 Wide angle lens, charger, remote, wind muff for onboard mic, with Lowepro hard case.
The camera is in immaculate condition, as I baby all of my equiptment.

PM me if you are interested.

Hey guys, I sold my Sony FX-1 and have 2 new, still sealed large capacity after-market batteries (NP-F960, Lithium) and an external ac/dc charger (plugs into wall ac- but includes a cigarette lighter adapter for in-car charging!)

$60 takes the whole set- add $5 for shipping.

My business partner and I are sellling this package because we've made the switch to HDV with 2 new HD100s. For the entire package I'm looking to get $4700 plus shipping and the paypal fee. I purchased this LetusXL v2 Flip Mini35 Adapter from Ash Greyson a couple of weeks ago (see thread http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/showthread.php?t=78591), and in the interim my production partner decided to go another route with our use of lenses, so I'm not going to be using it after all.

Photos of the actual adapter are at:

This is the latest version by Quyen Le of http://www.adapterplace.com
It is so new that he hasn't posted it on his website. It is the same as the normal LetusXL adapter except that it internally flips the image so that you don't need to use a reversing monitor, or do any image flipping in post production.

The LetusXL adapter mounts directly onto the body of the Canon XL series camcorders (XL1, XL1S, XL2, XL-H1) and does not use, or require, the normal video lens.
This ensures a much cleaner image using your premium Canon or Nikon glass and does not put any stress on a video lens as the filter-thread mounts do.

The adapter was received from Ash in pristine condition, and it remains in that condition.

Also included is a razor sharp Canon 50mm f/1.8 lens to get you started.

The adapter has the capability of handling both Canon FD and Nikon lenses with the flipable lens mount.

It also has a ground-glass lens with optional (via slide switch) vibrating capability to give your video that soft "film look" that is so desired from DV.

I'm asking $800 shipped and PayPal'd to CONUS. It sells for $900, and this adapter is in as-new condition.
I will ship to Canada for an additional $10.00 US.
I will also accept a Cashiers Check or Money Order drawn on a major bank. If paid by either of these methods I will delay shipping until they clear my account.

Local pickup in the Seattle area is possible.

If interested please E-Mail me as that will work the best.

Thanks for looking!!

I am putting up for sale an immaculate Canon Gl1, that has mainly been used as a backup cam, as well as many excellent extras.

This camera was purchased used from a videographer who only used this as his B cam also. I had the camera serviced and checked out before I used it for the first time.
It has only used once as a main camera, served as a backup camera for a year after that, and never used as a deck for transfer. I personally have only put only around 48 hours on the heads myself.

Package includes:
* GL1
* 1 BP915 Battery
* 3 (BP945 long life) Batteries,
* VL-10Li video light
* Canon WD58 Wide angle lens
* Charger, remote, wind muff for onboard mic,
* Lowepro waterproof hard case

I am looking for $1300 for everything. The package can not be broken up.
I am in MD (D.C. area) and would ship to you via USPS. I wil pay for shipping
and handling as well as insurance as well.

Thanks for your interest, a d I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Edit:Nevermind...I see now you already responded to my ad

I've got a GL1 for sale...It works fine, and the body is in good shape except for a hair-line crack next to the power switch (got careless and laid a table top tripod on top of it before closing the case). Comes with the charger, original battery and a 3 hour battery (941 I think), and a little fuzzy wind muff. Its been to Iraq, used by Discovery Channel once, and used last week as a helmet-cam for some POV shots, so its been around the block. But still turns out a good picture. I was looking for $500 + $20 shipping. I can send photos if you're interested

Okay...so nobody went for my package deal, so before I ebay this stuff, I'll give everybody one more chance and split the stuff up.

1 Sony HDR-FX1 (purchased from Focus Camera July 25, 2006)
-less than 4 months old (have receipt), less than 20 hours on it (2 weddings)
-comes with all original accessories and 2 NP-F970 batteries and 1 stock battery (NP-F570) and Sony LCS-VCB Camcorder case
-$2600

1 Sony HVR-Z1U (Operation 14 X 10H; Drum 9 X 10H; Tape; 6 X 10H; Threading 22 X 10H)
-comes with all original accessories
-3 NP-F970 Batteries
-Sony LCS-VCB Camcorder case
-$3700

Check out this stuff at half price!! It's all basically new (4 months old)!

1 Glidecam 4000 Pro w/body Pod $250.00
1 Rode Videomic w/ deadcat muffler $100.00
2 Azden 200 ULT $300.00 each
2 Sony VCT 870 RM tripods with LANC remotes w/cases $75.00 each

I'd say I'm pretty firm on the prices, but offer away if you want. I'm located in southern California. I don't have any of the original packaging because I live in an apartment and space is at a premium and, I wasn't planning on selling this stuff so soon. Well, my partner flaked and now I'm busy with school and just wanting to get out from underneath my debt. I have never bought/sold on dvinfo.net, but I am an active ebayer and paintballer, so my feedback can be seen on these following sites:

Feel free to move this thread if needed guys..just thought I would post it here first though.

After much deliberation, I decided to wait for the V1Us and sell the A1. There are several reasons, but it boils down to me being more familar with the Sony cams.

Used about 3 hours total all at home.

It will come with everything that was included as well as an extra NON OEM battery (large capacity $60 value) and a Fisheye lens. (from here http://demonfisheyelens.com/)

$3975 + shipping.

PayPal, Credit Card or Checks.

Still have it?
Will this fit the A1?

Yes, it's still available.

If you're referring to the Canon XH A1 then no it's not going to fit.
The XH A1 does not have interchangable lenses.

This adapter is for the XL series (Xl1, XL1S, XL2, XL H1), which have interchangable lenses and allow you to remove the lens from the body. The adapter mounts onto the camcorder body in place of the lens.
Then you use 35mm Canon or Nikon lenses to shoot with.
